Tyler Smithpeters - SIU
Smithpeters played much of SIU's 81-51 win over Florida A&M Sunday in foul trouble as the junior had seven points in 18 minutes of action. Smithpeters was 2-of-3 from the field, knocking down two 3-pointers and going 1-of-2 from the foul line, to finish with two rebounds, three assists, two turnovers and one steal in the start for the Salukis.
In Friday's 77-75 win over Air Force, Smithpeters went 4-of-9 from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range and 3-of-4 from the foul line to finish with 14 points as the second leading scorer for the Dawgs in the season opener. The former Harrisburg standout had two rebounds, three assists and two turnovers, logging 31 minutes.
Capel Henshaw - Lewis University
Henshaw knocked down a career-high tying four three-pointers for the second straight game to finish with 14 points as Lewis beat Davis & Elkins 89-86 Saturday in Cedarville, Ohio. Henshaw came off the bench, going 4-of-9 from the field and 4-of-8 from long range to finish 2-for-2 at the foul line. The Flyer junior had five rebounds, four of which came on the defensive end and he finished with two assists in 31 minutes.
On Friday, Henshaw tied his career-high with 16 points, knocking down four triples (also tying a career-high) in a 88-71 win over Cedarville.
Henshaw was 5-of-11 from the field and went 4-of-7 from beyond the arc and finished 2-of-2 from the foul line, while grabbing three rebounds as Lewis is now 2-0 on the season.
Bahari Amaya - Illinois-Springfield
Amaya has played in two games for Illinois-Springfield, averaging 13 minutes and 1.5 points per game. Amaya is 1-for-7 from the field and 1-for-5 from 3-point range in the early going, while pulling down a combined five rebounds.
