Almedia Bryant 87, Harrisburg

Almedia Bryant 87, a longtime resident of Harrisburg passed away 4:15 PM Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Charlier Hospice Center in Evansville, IN.

Born March 4, 1928 in Harrisburg, IL she worked many jobs including gas station attendant, waitress, short order cook, and laundress at local dry cleaners. She worked as chairwoman in the state, county and city election for several decades until her health prevented her from continuing. Almedia took great pride in her work. Almedia married the late Troy Douglas Bryant on April 12, 1952 They were married for 58 years until his passing in May 21, 2010. Together they had 7 children, Judy Myers, Rachel Hunt and Troy (Pete) Bryant of Harrisburg, Darlene Fredman and Ella Young of Eldorado and Doug (Bubby) Bryant of Albion. 20 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and 9 great, great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Vera Plaisance, 4 brothers James Karnes, Bill Karnes, Donald Karnes and Orval (Boonie) Karnes, Jr. and 1 sister Bernice Horton.

Almedia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Her house was always filled with friends, family, life and laughter. Her family was always top priority in her life. Almedia was a smart, strong, kind, caring and wonderful woman. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Love you Medier.

Graveside services will precede burial 1:00 PM Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Sunset Garden Cemetery with Rev. Barry Steed officiating. Friends may call after 11:00 AM Saturday at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home.
