Tamaroa kids honor vets

Robert Zoeckler served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968-1970 during the Vietnam War. He grew up in the Tamaroa school system and has a granddaughter, Anne Marie Zoeckler, attending school there now.

James Lovelady served in the United States Marines from 1952-1954 in Japan and Korea. He is the great grandfather of James Lovelady, another grade school student.

The list goes on. James Geary served six years in the U.S. Army. Adam Watkins served 15 years in the Air Force in the states, England, Korea, apan, Romania, Sicilty and Algeria.

Bill Doerflein served two years in he army in Korea.

Thomas Jablonski served in the army from 1969-1971 in Vietnam and Korea. Bob Morgan served his country. Joshua Harris served six years in the Army National Guard. Steven Harris served two and a half years in the marines in Vietnam.

All were honored Friday during a special reception in the gymnasium at the school that included poems, readings, singing and a chance to hear the stories of how they served our country.

It was all to the credit of seventh and eighth grade teacher Cindy Opp, who put together the reception with the help of staff members.

The morning ended with cookies, coffee and punch for these great men who helped keep the nation free for their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
