Sophomore Football: Harrisburg closes out season in style
The Harrisburg High School sophomore football team finished the season 7-1 after a 28-6 win over Carbondale.
Kent Cletcher had three scores for the Bulldogs, one coming from 3 yards out in the first quarter, a second on a 1-yard run in the second quarter and a 6-yard score in the fourth quarter.
Hunter Smith had the other score for Harrisburg, punching one in from 20 yards out at the 6:08 mark on the second quarter.
"It was really nice to go out with a win," Harrisburg sophomore head coach Kyle McGowan said. "I was very proud of the effort. Offensively, we were able to move the ball and defensively, I thought we played really well. We really shut down their run game.
"Overall, Coach (Greg) Davis and I really enjoyed working with this group. It is a really good group of young men and we look forward to watching them develop into varsity players the next two years. This is a good class that has a lot of potential if they are willing to work at it."
