CHS JV: Yellow Jackets fall to Du Quoin, 43-27

Pierson Lyons ran for 147 yards and two touchdowns, but Chester's junior varsity team gave Du Quoin a 22-point head start in a 43-27 loss to the Indians on Monday at W.O. Smith Field.

Drake Bollman (seven carries for 85 yards) and Clayton Richelman (one catch for 36 yards) had the other scores for Chester (3-4, 3-2 Black Diamond), which wraps up its season on Saturday against Eldorado.

Jack Hathaway ran for 85 yards on 16 carries for Chester, while Eathan Thompson added 31 yards on three carries. The Yellow Jackets got their first touchdown on a 19-yard run by Lyons with 3:06 left in the second quarter and trailed 22-7 at halftime.

Du Quoin extended its advantage to 29-7 in the third quarter and the teams combined for 34 points in the fourth.

Hathaway led Chester defensively with eight tackles, while Thompson added seven. Kickoff on Saturday against Eldorado at W.O. Smith Field is scheduled for noon.
