Du Quoin Halloween Parade October 29
The 35th annual Du Quoin Halloween parade will be held in downtown Du Quoin on Thursday, Oct. 29 starting at 6 p.m.
The parade will begin at the Banterra Bank parking lot.
Floats will be judged on the bank parking lot at 5:30 p.m.
Costumes will be judged during the parade in front of the Du Quoin State Bank.
First and second place prizes will be given to those in five costume categories.
They are:
• Babies
• Most Original
• Best Halloween Character
• Best TV or Movie Character.
• Group of two or more
The Grand Marshals of the parade will be the winners of the elementary school coloring contest.
The bank parking lot will not be available until after 5 p.m. The parade route will start at the bank, head east on Main Street to Washington and head north on Washington. It will disband at the corner of Park and Washington streets.

The annual Du Quoin Halloween parade will be followed by trick or treating in Du Quoin on Friday night, October 30 for costumed children only. Turn on your porch light or yard light if you have candy for the children.
Then, on Saturday, October 31 at 7 p.m. the Pinckneyville Chamber of Commerce wil host the annual Mardi Gras parade through the streets of Pinckneyville.
The theme of this year's Mardi Gras celebration is "Daydreams and nightmares."
