Girl in custody kicks window out of Du Quoin police car
A 17-year-old Du Quoin girl who was being taken into custody for domestic battery on Pope Street in Du Quoin Tuesday now faces multiple charges after she kicked a rear window out of a City of Du Quoin police car.
The girl was not identified and is listed as a juvenile on police arrest reports.
Du Quoin officer Sgt. Dale Swallers answered the call to Pope Street at 1: 45 p.m. and had placed the girl in the back seat of the squad to take her to the police station on a charge of domestic battery when the girl became distraught and kicked the rear window on the passenger side out of the squad.
Swallers received city and county backup. The girl was restrained and was laying on the ground when a county transport vehicle showed up.
The girl is now charged with two counts of aggravated battery,m two counts of criminal damage to state supported property and one count of resisting arrest. She was interviewed and booked at the Du Quoin Police Department and transported to a juvenile detention center.
