Darrell Dewain Hancock

Darrell Dewain Hancock, 73, passed away on the 4th of October, 2015 at Alden Gardens Assisted Living Community in Des Plaines, IL.

He was born on June 20th,1942 in Stonefort, IL to Glen and Eva (Diefenbach) Hancock. After many relocations during his youth, Darrell spent his formative years in Harrisburg, IL, which he considered home. He graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1960. After high school he:

• attended University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

• attended DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago, IL where he graduated with a degree in electronics engineering technology

• worked for various companies throughout his career as a quality control engineer at Cook Electric, Victor Comptometer, Montgomery Ward and Research Technologies International

Darrell married Jeanette (Stone) in 1965 in Morrisvale, WV. They were married for 50 years. Darrell was an attender of Messiah Baptist Church in Addison, IL. He enjoyed tinkering and mrepairing anything electronic. He deeply appreciated American Roots Music and possessed a wealth of knowledge in many areas as he was a life-long learner.

Darrell was preceded in death by his father Glen (1984), mother Eva (2015) and sister Patricia (2010).

Darrell is survived by his spouse Jeanette of Chicago, IL; his sons Darren, (Sharon) and Daniel (Theresa), Hancock of Chicago, IL; his grandchildren Devyn, Owen, Kailey, Audrey and Caleb; his nieces and nephews and other relatives.

A visitation will be held at Messiah Baptist Church, 600 S. Villa Ave, Addison, IL at 11:00 a.m., October 8, 2015. Memorial service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery in Chicago, IL.
