VOLLEYBALL: Elverado knocks off Century

Elverado picked up their seventh conference win to start the season on Tuesday, knocking off Century in straight sets 25-13, 25-23 to improve to 7-0 in the SEC.

Tori Ehlers' 7 kills led the way with Allie Whittington added 4. Baylie McClanahan and Maycee Bowlin each had 6 assists. Ehlers also had 3 blocks, Ellie Winthrop had 2.

"We played well tonight," said EHS head volleyball coach Donette Wheatley. "The second set we traded mistakes it seemed like, but we pushed through to take the match. We played a lot of offense, even turned our defense into offense."

Ehlers and Jessica Elson each had 4 kills in the junior varsity match, which the Lady Falcons won 25-13, 25-23.

Elverado's Thursday night home match against Cobden is "pink out" night in recognition of breast cancer awareness.
