GOLF: Panthers, Indians come up empty at Regionals
With a team score of 327, Nashville took home first place at Tuesday's IHSA Class A boys golf Regional at Red Hawk Golf Course, advancing to next week's Sectional along with second place Chester (336) and third place Sparta (339).
Hornets golfer Riley Edwards earned the individual medalist award with his 18-hole score of 73. Teammate Tyler Wall and Gibault's Alex Dietz tied for second shooting 76.
In addition to the three teams moving on to Sectional action at Union County Country Club in Anna next Monday, Dietz and nine other individuals also advanced. The list includes Okawville's Mason Drury, Shane Ganz and Brad Fuhrhop, Gibault's Zachary Heet and Jason Merz, Steeleville's Brock Quigley and James Batson, and Red Bud's Doiron Collin and Jared Schneider.
The Regional host Panthers finished 10th of the 13 teams with a score of 372. Competing for the Panthers were Grant Thompson (89), Blaine Schubert (92), Hunter Clark (95), Kyle Luke (97), Mason Hopp (100) and Tyler Restoff (113).
Girls Regional action takes place on Wednesday with the Lady Panthers traveling to Mt. Carmel.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">Du Quoin boys fail to advance</span>
Mt. Vernon, Ill - Indians Nick King (98), John Monroe (107) and Kyler Lively (108) competed at Tuesday's Hamilton County Regional at Green Hills Golf Club in Mt. Vernon.
Carmi won the event with a score of 325 and advanced along with Hamilton County (328) and Woodlawn (345).
