Prep Volleyball: Eldorado knocks off Johnston City; Harrisburg falls in straight sets to Herrin

The Eldorado volleyball team won in straight sets over Johnston City Tuesday night, taking down the Indians 25-23 and 25-21.

Mary Mitchell went 5-for-5 on sets and was 17-for-2 on spikes, while finishing with three kills. At the line, Mitchell was 9-for-10 on serves with nine points, two aces and 25 digs.

Rachel Durham was 50-for-53 on sets and was 6-for-6 on spikes. Durham finished 4-for-5 on serves with five points and 11 digs, while Brooklyn Peavler finished 6-for-6 on sets and was 6-for-8 on spikes with one kill. Peavler went 7-for-8 at the line with nine points, one ace and 23 digs.

Abby Steed had a near-perfect night, going 14-for-14 on sets and was 23-for-26 on spikes with seven kills. Steed went 9-for-10 on serves with 10 points, one ace, three blocks, two kills and 13 digs.

Lexi Clore was 3-for-4 on sets and 2-for-2 on spikes with a 10-for-10 performance from the line with 12 points, one ace and 22 digs.

Kaitlyn McGuire was 4-for-4 on serves with four points, one ace and 13 digs, while Jordan Bailey went 7-for-7 on sets and 11-for-13 on spikes. She finished with one kill and seven digs. Samantha Boulds had one spike and seven digs.

Herrin sweeps Harrisburg

Harrisburg fell to Herrin in straight sets, losing 25-23 and 25-20 on Tuesday night.

Tough defense and a solid performance from sophomore middle Bryleigh Buchanan (10 kills and five blocks) kept Harrisburg close.

Matty Hawkins also contributed with six kills and two blocks, while setters Lilee Robinson and Jessica Schwartz had nine assists each for the night.

Libero Devin Butler had nine digs for the match and senior Hannah Bartok finished with seven.
