Prep Volleyball: Red Devils knock off Harrisburg; Eldorado falls in straight sets to Fairfield
The Harrisburg volleyball team fell in straight sets to Murphysboro Thursday night, losing 25-8 and 25-16.
In the game, Matty Hawkins had four kills and four blocks, while Bryleigh Buchanan had two kills and two blocks. Raegan Thompson had two kills and libero Devin Butler finished with eight digs.
Jessica Schwartz had three assists, while Lilee Robinson had four assists.
"Murphysboro is a tough team that just outplayed us tonight," Harrisburg head coach Heather Cox said. "They passed well, which led to multiple offensive attacks. We played tough defense, but couldn't get our offense going due to the effectiveness of theirs."
The Harrisburg junior varsity team also lost in straight sets, falling 25-16 and 25-16.
Eldorado falls in straight sets
The Eldorado volleyball team lost at Fairfield, falling 25-21 and 27-25 in a game EHS head coach Lisa Craig said her girls played very well and were in the game the whole time.
"Our serving was excellent tonight and it was a good team effort," Craig said.
Statistically, Rachel Durham was 19-for-19 on sets with four spikes and one kill. Durham went 3-for-3 on serves with three points and seven digs.
Brooklynn Peavler had a set, seven spikes and two kills, while going 10-for-10 on serves with 10 points, two aces and 12 digs.
Abby Steed was 5-for-5 on sets and 22-for-26 on spikes with six kills. The senior went 5-for-5 on serves with five points, one block and seven digs.
Lexi Clore was 11-for-12 on serves with 12 points, two aces and 14 digs, while Kailtyn McGuire was 2-for-2 on spikes, 8-for-9 on serves and nine points.
Jordan Bailey was 2-for-2 on sets and 6-for-7 on spikes. Bailey was 5-for-5 on serves with four points and one digs, while Madison Newton had two spikes and one dig.
Whitney McGuire was 2-for-2 on sets with one spike and one serve with a point, a block and a dig.
April Summers was 2-for-2 on sets and 1-for-2 on spikes, while going 1-for-1 on serves with one point, one block and three digs. Kaitlyn Etienne had one spike and three digs.
The Eagles are slated to play at Vienna tonight (Monday).
