VOLLEYBALL: Lady Indians fall at A-J

Anna-Jonesboro overwhelmed Du Quoin in the first set of Thursday's Southern Illinois River-to-River Conference Mississippi Division volleyball matchup then held off the Lady Indians in the second for a 25-6, 25-20 win.

"My hat's off to A-J tonight as they played a darn near flawless first game," said DHS head coach Jo Dill. "We got stuck in a rotation and they have so many good hitters, we just couldn't get a side out. In the second game we played our game better and our serving and blocking kept their hitters at bay a little bit. But A-J was just too good tonight."

Four Lady Indians each had a pair of kills on the night - Jordyn Bullar, Alaina Caldwell, Afton Robinson and Kenzie Jackson. Bullar and Rylea McDonald each had 3 digs. Caldwell led assists with 6.

Du Quoin (4-11, 0-4) will try again for their first conference win on Tuesday when they host Nashville.
