VOLLEYBALL: Elverado whips Agape, falls at Goreville
Elverado stayed perfect in conference volleyball games on Tuesday night, sending Agape home from Elkville with a straight-set loss. The Lady Falcons won both games comfortably - 25-11, 25-12.
Tori Ehlers had 7 kills for Elverado, Allie Whittington had 5, Ellie Winthrop 3. Emma Bigham and Baylie McClanahan each tallied 6 assists, and Winthrop and Ehlers both had a team-best 6 service aces.
"We had another good night," said EHS head coach Donette Wheatley. "Everyone played and everyone did their job. We have really come together as a team."
The Lady Falcons' junior varsity team also moved to 4-0 in SEC play with a 25-8, 25-4 win. Jessica Elson and Ashlyn Buck both had a pair of kills and Melissa Sarensen had 5 assists. Elson added 9 aces.
Elverado dropped Thursday night's road match at Goreville in two sets, 25-7, 28-26. The loss evened their overall record at 7-7.
"We were really dragging tonight," Wheatley said. "We had a rough start to the evening, but we straightened things out and pulled it together in the second game."
Whittington, Winthrop, Elson and Haily Falter each had 2 kills, Bigham had 3 digs and 5 assists.
The Lady Falcons dropped the J-V match in three sets, 25-16, 20-25, 15-12. Ehlers had 9 kills, Sarensen and Morgan Cashion each had 3 digs.
EHS (7-7, 4-0) hosts Shawnee on Tuesday.
