No arrest in Friday night stabbing of Du Quoin man on West Main Street
As of 10 p.m. Monday evening there was no new information from the Du Quoin Police Department with respect to a Friday night stabbing that took place in the 400 block of West Main Street.
The police department reports that the victim continues to recover from non-life threatening injuries following the stabbing.
Police said over the weekend that 45-year-old Raymond Eugene Mercker Jr. was stabbed on West Main Street.
Mercker's cousin Stephanie Willce says Mercker was walking to a motel in the 400 block of West Main Street when the incident occurred.
Mercker was transferred to a St. Louis hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Du Quoin Police Department reports the stabbing is still under investigation.
As of Monday night a spokesman at the department said he was unaware of any arrests in the case being made. If you have any information about the incident please contact the department at 542-2131.
