Chester American Legion Auxiliary meeting highlights

<span>The Chester American Legion Auxiliary Unit 487 held its monthly meeting September 14 at the Post Home with 13 members present.</span>

<span>Chaplain Collette Powley gave the dinner prayer. Members enjoyed a meal served by hostesses Marilyn Duensing and Dorothy Decker.</span>

<span>After the meal, President Wagner and Chaplain Powley conducted the "Draping of the Charter" in memory of Dorothy Rednour.</span>

<span>President Wagner called the meeting to order. Colors were presented by Sgt. Of Arms Dorothy Rinne and Asst. Sgt. Of Arms Barb Welge. Chaplain Collette had the opening prayer.</span>

<span>Secy. Farida read the minutes of the August 10 meeting, it was approved as read. Treasurer Laura Brockmeyer gave the financial report.</span>

<span>The reports will be filed for audit.</span>

<span>President Betty reported that the 5th Division meeting will be Oct. 11 at Benton. A motion was made to purchase $10 worth of tickets, seconded and carried.</span>

<span>A request was received from Jeanne Kleinschmidt, for members to participate in the Susan G. Komen Foundation golf tournament on Sept. 29. Motion was made to donate $50, seconded and carried.</span>

<span>A motion was also made to donate $50 to Scott POW-MIA Council, seconded and carried. A motion was also made to give Emma Kerkover $100 for mileage to Springfield, seconded and carried.</span>

<span>Community chairman Collette reported that the library showed a film, "Cinderella" on September 16. Trivia Night was very well-attended.</span>

<span>Barb Welge, VA and Rehan chairman, will be taking treats to veterans in nursing homes, expenses should not be over $50.</span>

<span>Members will be selling chances on the quilt at Roziers grocery store on October 1. Drawing will be at the Christmas Dinner on December 14.</span>

<span>Sunshine Chairman Farida reported sending a sympathy card to Ann Witbart and family, and a get well card to Doris Sauerhage.</span>

<span>Christmas Dinner will be on December 14, to be catered by Jodi Mehrer from Ole Farmhouse. Cost of dinner is $10 per person, to be paid in advance.</span>

<span>The attendance drawing was won by Laura Brockmeyer. Meeting was adjourned with prayer by Chaplain Collette.</span>

<span>The next meeting will be October 12, with lunch to be served at 6 p.m. with meeting at 6.30 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend.</span>
