Prep Volleyball: Senior Discount
There were a few small mistakes, but the Harrisburg volleyball team kept the momentum in coming away with a straight set win over West Frankfort Tuesday night at Davenport Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs won 25-18 and 25-14 behind some strong serving from the Harrisburg seniors.
Lilee Robinson had 16 service points, while Hannah Bartok added 12 and 11 from Ally Langley.
In the end, 39 of the 50 points earned in the two matches came from senior serving.
Sophomores middles Matty Hawkins (11 kills and two blocks) and Bryleigh Buchanan (four kills and two blocks) played big at the net, while freshman libero Devin Butler played an excellent defensive game, coming away with 12 digs.
"West Frankfort is a scrappy, well coached team in the conference," Harrisburg head coach Heather Cox said. "We expect them to show up and play, which they did. I got a great team effort from my girls tonight and the pieces of the puzzle are starting to come together."
The Harrisburg junior varsity team also won, beating West Frankfort in three sets, 25-16, 21-25 and 15-1.
