Prep Volleyball: Early Struggles

The Eldorado High School volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Wednesday night in opening play of the NCOE Tournament, falling to Thompsonville and NCOE.

In the game against Thompsonville, Eldorado jumped out to a 25-21 first set win, then dropped two straight, falling 25-19 and 16-14.

Mary Mitchell was 4-for-4 on sets with 21 spikes and six kills. The senior went 14-for-14 on serves with 13 points, three aces and 21 digs.

Rachel Durham was 32-28 on sets, with five spikes and 16-for-16 on serves with 12 points and four digs.

Brooklynn Peavler was 6-for-7 on sets and 4-for-6 on spikes with a 7-for-7 line on serves with seven points and 26 digs.

Abby Steed was 9-for-9 on sets with 17 spikes and seven kills. The senior was 8-for-10 on serves with eight points, two aces and 18 digs.

Lexi Clore was 5-for-5 on sets with five spikes and went 7-for-7 on serves with seven points and 16 digs. Kaitlyn McGuire was 2-for-2 on spikes with an 8-for-8 line on serves with eight points, two aces and 13 digs.

Jordan Bailey was 10-for-10 on spikes with two kills and five digs and Whitney McGuire was 3-for-4 on sets with 4-for-4 on spikes and two digs.

Against NCOE, Eldorado fell 25-11 in the first set, rallied to win set two 25-20 and then fell 15-5.

Statistically, Mitchell was 3-for-3 on sets and 21-for-25 on spikes with four kills. She went 6-for-8 at the line with six points, three aces and 31 digs.

Steed went 7-for-7 on sets with 24 spikes and three kills, while going 8-for-8 on serves with eight points, one ace and 8-for-9 on blocks with two kills and 21 digs.

Madison Newton was 25-for-26 on sets with nine spikes and one kill. She went 6-for-6 on serves with seven points, two aces and four digs.

Durham was 13-for-14 on sets and went 3-for-3 on serves with eight digs, while Peavler was 8-for-8 on sets and had 7-for-9 spikes with one kill and eight digs.

Clore had 23 digs, while Kailtyn McGuire was 3-for-4 on serves with four points, once ace and 19 digs and Durham had eight digs, nine spikes and was 9-for-9 on sets.

Eldorado was slated to play Hamilton County and Carmi-White County Thursday night.
