Blechle is promoted to Dean of Students at CHS
Jeremy Blechle is by no means a stranger to Chester High School, but he recently took the reins of a new position at CHS with the beginning of the school year.
Blechle, who attended CHS as a student and has taught there since 2007, has begun a new adventure as the new dean of students. Blechle assumes many of the duties of former Vice Principal Terri Franklin, who retired at the end of the 2014-2015 school year.
Blechle, who earned a bachelor's degree in education from Southern Illinois University - Carbondale in 2006, is working towards finishing a master's degree in curriculum leadership with a Type 75 administration certification.
That will qualify him to serve as a principal or assistant principal at the high school level. Blechle has taught Economics, World History I, Driver's Education, Sociology and U.S. History during his eight-year tenure at CHS.
His new duties as dean of students take up half of his daily routine at CHS. The other half will spent teaching U.S. History I.
"I plan on striving to create a better learning environment here at CHS," said Blechle, when asked what his goals as Dean of Students are. "My focus will be on education and I intend to maintain a structured discipline plan.
"Furthermore, I will always be available to help teachers and staff in any way possible."
Blechle sends out an open invitation to students, teachers, staff, parents and members of the local community to stop by and visit whenever questions or problems arise.
An appointment is always recommended by calling 618-826-2302.
