GOLF: Sarah Breslin wins medalist, PCHS girls 2nd at Okawville Invite

Led by Sarah Breslin's medalist award performance, Pinckneyville's girls finished in second place of the nine team's at Saturday's Okawville Invitational, falling just two strokes shy of first-place Nashville. The Hornettes' four-person eighteen-hole total of 328 and the Lady Panthers' score of 330 were comfortably ahead of a third-place tie between Okawville and Breese Central at 374.

Sarah Breslin shot 72 to take home the first place medalist award by six strokes over Nashville's Hope Rueter (78). Two other PCHS girls were also in the top ten - Megan Breslin was sixth at 82, Trista Ogilvie tied for tenth with an 87.

Ellie Carlson (89), Gracie McDaniel (93) and Erica Crews (97) also competed for the Lady Panthers at Okawville.

Pinckneyville's boys were not as fortunate, brining up the tail end of the 11-team field at Okawville with a four-man total of 406. Nashville, led by Riley Edwards' 75 and Tyler Wall's 77, took home first with a score of 317. Greenville (327) was second.

Grant Thompson shot an 89 to lead the Panthers, followed by Blaine Schubert (104), Hunter Clark (106), Mason Hopp (107), Luke Silbe (107) and Kyle Luke (118).

PCHS's boys (2-17) play at Benton against the Rangers, Massac County and Carterville on Tuesday. The same afternoon, the Lady Panthers (16-4) host Carterville at Red Hawk Golf Course.
