Middle School Softball: HMS rebounds to beat Benton

Marion snapped Harrisburg's 7-game winning steak, knocking off the Bulldogs 12-2 Monday night, but HMS rebounded and came back to beat Benton 11-1 Tuesday.

Lydia Miller picked up the win, going seven strong innings and allowed one hit, while striking out 16.

Miller helped out her own cause at the plate, tacking on three hits to lead the charge.

Lexi Williams, Mya King, Makayla Payne and Hannah Reid all had two hits, while Essence Sanders and Hayley Sullivan had one hit.

HMS improved to 13-2 on the season and are now 3-1 in conference play.

Miller took the loss on Monday night, allowing eight hits over five innings, while striking out four. Kerrigan Payne tossed two innings of relief work, while striking out three and allowed five hits.

Sanders had three hits for HMS, while Sullivan, King and Makayla Payne all had one hit.
