Three children injured in Monday accident

<span>STEELEVILLE -- Three children were injured as a result of a two-vehicle accident on Route 4 on Monday near the Cox Creek bridge.</span>

<span>According to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office crash report, which was released Wednesday, 30-year-old Tamaroa resident Amber N. Plumlee was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after the 2013 Chevrolet Equinox she was driving rear-ended a 1999 Oldsmobile 4-Door.</span>

<span>The Oldsmobile was driven by 27-year-old Percy resident Natasha L. Partin. Three children in the Oldsmobile, 8-year-old Madison Partin, 7-year-old Mandy Partin and 2-year-old Mallory Partin were all transported to Sparta Community Hospital with unspecified injuries.</span>

<span>According to the report, Natasha Partin told law enforcement at the scene that she was stopped at 1064 E. Broadway St. waiting for oncoming traffic to clear so she could complete a left-hand turn into a private drive.</span>

<span>Partin said she used her turn signal and noticed the Equinox approaching from the rear "at a high rate of speed." The Equinox then collided with the Oldsmobile.</span>

<span>The accident occurred at 3:25 p.m. with Deputy Shane Rinehart responding.</span>
