Juanita Alexander
Juanita J. Alexander, 70, of Morton, Ill., passed away at 6:50 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, at Heartland of Riverview in East Peoria, Ill.
She was born July 8, 1945, in Price, Utah, to Cecil and Helena (Bacon) Howard. She married James Alexander, formerly of Harrisburg, on Nov. 4, 1972, in Morton.
Surviving are her husband of Morton; one daughter, Audra (Matt) Moore of Mapleton, Ill.; two grandsons, Matthew and Christopher Moore; one sister, Charlene Nixon of Nashville, Tenn.; and one brother, William (Bernice) Williams of Grand Junction, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Juanita was a surgical nurse for Dr. Richard Guingrich for 23 years and later worked at the Illinois Eye Center for about five years, retiring in 2004.
She attended Groveland Missionary Church and had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Springfield, Ill.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Heartland of Riverview and Methodist Hospice for the special care given to Juanita.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Marv Claassen officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg, Ill., with the Rev. Christine Cunningham officiating.
