Dist. 300 eyes first balanced budget in past four years
The Du Quoin Board of Education could see its first balanced budget in four years. The board approved the tentative 2015-2016 school year budget on Thursday night.
According to Supt. Dr. Gary Kelly, "Our total budget projected revenue (not counting debt service and capital Projects) for this year is $14,009,066. Our projected expenditures (not counting debt Service and capital projects) is $13, 734,727."
The superintendent presented the tentative 2015-2016 school year budget to the board. Potentially if all state funds are received even with the continued proration of state aid, the budget represents the first balanced budget for the District in four years. After the presentation, the board approved the tentative budget where it will remain on display until final approval by the board at the regular September board meeting.
