GOLF: Lady Panthers third at Nashville Invitational

Pinckneyville's girls golf team placed third of the nine teams at Thursday's Nashville Invitational Tournament, combining for a score of 189, eleven strokes back of the champion Hornettes. PCHS's Sarah Breslin placed second overall with a nine-hole score of 41 and Carterville's Avery Rea took home first with a 38.

The six wins and two losses bring the Lady Panthers' overall record this season to 8-2.

Megan Breslin (47), Trista Ogilvie (50) and Ellie Carlson (51) completed Pinckneyville's score on Thursday. Erica Crews (57) and Taylor Wildermuth (62) also competed for PCHS.

The Hornettes had three golfers shoot 45 or under, including Hope Rueter's team-best 42, on their home course at Nashville Municipal Golf Course.

Massac County placed second with a 183. Carterville was fourth at 202, followed by Okawville (204), Mascoutah (212), Waltonville (246), Trico (253) and Centralia (257).

The Lady Panthers (8-2) are off until Monday when they travel to Herrin to take on the Lady Tigers and Goreville. The tri-match is scheduled to tee off at 4:00 p.m.
