GOLF: Lady Panthers win at Okawville for 2-0 start; PCHS boys fall to 0-2

Pinckneyville freshman Megan Breslin scored her second medalist award in as many days and the Lady Panthers golf team improved to 2-0 on Tuesday, winning at Okawville 172-186. The PCHS boys dropped to 0-2 as the Rockets took the win 173-203.

Megan Breslin shot a nine-hole total of 40 at Roland Barkau Memorial Golf Course, edging out her sister, Sarah Breslin, by two strokes. Trista Ogilvie (44), Ellie Carlson (46), Erica Crews (47) and Gracie McDaniel (48) completed the scoring for the Lady Panthers on Tuesday.

The Panther boys were led by Grant Thompson's 42, which was just one shot off the winning total of 41 by Okawville's Brad Furhop. Hunter Clark (52), Kyle Luke (53), Justin Keller (56), Mason Hopp (59) and Tyler Restoff (68) also competed for Pinckneyville.

On Monday, PCHS's girls won at Waltonville, 187-234, behind Megan Breslin's 43. Sarah Breslin was a stroke back at 44. Carlson (49), Ogilvie (51), McDaniel (54), Crews (57) and Taylor Wildermuth (57) were the other Lady Panthers in action.

The boys were not as fortunate, dropping their season opener at Waltonville 187-209.

Luke led PCHS with a 49, seven shots behind medalist Sean Scott from the Spartans. Other Panthers competing at Waltonville included Clark (51), Thompson (54), Restoff (55), Hopp (56), Keller (57), Luke Silbe (60) and Blaine Schubert (61).

Pinckneyville's boys team is at Nashville on Wednesday for a tri-match with the Hornets and Trico. The Lady Panthers return to action on Thursday at Nashville.
