Sim Richerson Jr.

<span>Sim Richerson Jr. age 92, resident of rural Stonefort, passed away Thursday morning-August 6, 2015 at the Harrisburg Medical Center.</span>

<span style="font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;">Sim was born on October 28, 1922 in Pope County, IL son of the late Sim Richerson Sr. and Ethel Womack Richerson.</span>

<span style="font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;">He married Mary Alice Davis on February 14, 1954 and she preceded him in death on March 22, 1988. </span>

<span style="font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;">Sim was a Navy veteran, retired UMWA coal miner and farmer, served a number of years as a school board member for the Carrier Mills-Stonefort Unit 2 school district, and was a faithful member of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church in New Burnside.</span>

<span style="font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;">He is survived by a daughter; Rhonda Sim (Ray) Henderson of Stonefort, IL</span>

<span style="font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;">brothers; Paul (Connie) Richerson of Carrier Mills, IL, Philip Dale (Jo) Richerson of Stonefort and a sister; Rita (George) Overstreet of Stonefort, IL.</span>

<span style="font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;">He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Mary Alice, step-son; Charles B. Ozment, (3) brothers; Johnny, Jimmy, and Stephen Richerson and (2) sisters; Betty Ann Trammell and Roma Hill.</span>

<span style="font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;">Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday-August 8, 2015 at the Walnut Grove Baptist Church near New Burnside with the Rev. Ron Ferguson officiating.</span>

<span style="font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;">Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to service time Saturday at the church.</span>

<span style="font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;">Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery east of Ozark.</span>

<span style="font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;">In lieu of flowers, the preferred choice of remembrance would be memorials to the Walnut Grove Baptist Church in his memory. Envelopes will be available at the church.</span>
