Obituary: Marlow R. Ewell, Jr.

Marlow R. Ewell, Jr., age 87 of Harrisburg, passed away at 8:40 PM, Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Fountainview Nursing Home in Eldorado.

Marlow was born on February 6, 1928 in Harrisburg to the late Marlow R. Ewell, Sr. and Bertha Jane (Johnson) Ewell. He married Vernetta Mae Oliver on June 25, 1972 and she preceded him in death on April 25, 1994. Marlow was a World War II Army Veteran.

Marlow is survived by a daughter, Ranae Dietzel and husband Walter of Harrisburg; two grandchildren, Hailli Dietzel of Harrisburg, and Camden Dietzel both of Harrisburg; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Vernetta, sister, Lorene Ewell, sister, Loudene Ewell and a brother, John Thomas Ewell.

A memorial service will be held at 1 PM, Monday, June 29, 2015 at Big Ridge Cemetery east of Harrisburg. Rev. Harold Ewell will officiate; burial will follow in Big Ridge Cemetery. Military grave side rites will be conducted by the Harrisburg and Carrier Mills American Legions, Veteran's of Foreign Wars, and the National Guard out of Marion.
