Gallatin County Farm Bureau donates Grain RES-Q tubes

The Gallatin County Farm Bureau says one of their priorities is the safety of the county's farmers. To help ensure farm safety in the community, the board of directors decided to help out local fire departments in getting Grain RES-Q tubes. These tubes will help the first responders to get someone out of a grain bin. Without this equipment, someone could easily suffocate if they are stuck in the grain bin under corn. With multiple local departments having access to RES-Q tubes, the response time and chances of survival are greatly increased. It is rare that these are used, but it is wonderful to have them in case they are needed. It could easily save a life.

The Gallatin County Farm Bureau agreed to pay for most of the RES-Q tube, and with a $1,000 donation for each department from Wabash Valley Service Company these tubes were free of cost to the departments. The departments receiving the grain RES-Q tubes are Omaha Fire Department, Ridgway Fire Department, and Shawneetown Fire Department. We are hoping to get one for the rest of the fire departments in the county soon. It is our hope that soon all fire departments in the county will have one.
