American Legion: Post 167 takes split over weekend
The Harrisburg Post 167 American Legion baseball team split in action against Evansville Pate and Paducah over the weekend.
On Friday, Harrisburg fell 17-2 against Evansville Pate, where Post 167 gave up 17 runs on 14 hits, while committing three errors. Harrisburg used five pitchers in the outing, sending out Noah Vallette, Patrick Bittle, Drew Woolcott, Cooper Patterson and Dakota Wagner.
Offensively, Harrisburg had eight hits on the night with Brady Mayer and Bittle each finishing with two.
On Saturday, Harrisburg rallied from a 5-1 deficit to score four runs in the eighth and won it with a run in the 10th for the 6-5 victory.
Austin Hefner pitched four innings, allowing five runs, while Patterson and Emery each pitched three scoreless innings.
Post 167 again had eight hits against Paducah as Emery and Vallette each had two. Josh Pilkington, Tyler Lightner, Mayer and Bittle all had one.
"This was a great team effort from everyone," Harrisburg coach Doug Emery said. "Keeping them from scoring the last six innings was crucial for our comeback win. I was very proud of the effort from all of them."
The originally scheduled game with Paducah Wednesday has been cancelled due to a scheduling conflict. Post 167 will host Carrier Mills on Friday in a double header, starting at 6 p.m.
