Retired Assistant US Attorney, Author and Historian Visits Eldorado Rotary

The Eldorado Rotary recently received a visit by Gillum Ferguson, a retired Assistant U.S. Attorney from the Chicago area, as well as historian and author.

Born in Saline county and currently residing in Harrisburg, Ferguson discussed his recent book, "Illinois in the War of 1812," published by the University of Illinois Press. His book details the crucial importance of the War of 1812 in the development of Illinois as a state.

Ferguson is secretary and member of the board for the River to River Trail Society, and was recently elected to the board of the Illinois State Historical Society. His book was named Book of the Year 2012 by the Illinois State Historical Society. He has also had articles published in "The Journal of Illinois History," "The Journal of the Illinois State Historical Society," "The Illinois Bar Journal"<span class="s1"> </span>and other journals.
