TRACK & FIELD: 3 Indians, 5 Panthers qualify for Boys State Finals

Three Du Quoin Indians and five Pinckneyville Panthers will be traveling to O'Brien Stadium in Charleston next week for the IHSA Track & Field State Final Meet after advancing at Thursday's Sectional at Chester. The Panthers were fourth in the team standings at Chester, the Indians came in seventh.

DHS's Zayne Fornear (long jump, 21'1), Caleb Vogel (high jump, 6'4) and Devin Jones (discus, 154'9) all won Sectional crowns at Chester for their events. That trio will join Pinckneyville's Tristan Fisher (2nd, triple jump, 40'11.5) and three Panther relay teams in Charleston.

The Panther 4x100 meter relay team of Caulden Lazenby, Brian Taylor, Chris Mitchell and Caleb Logan came in second with a time of 44.52 behind Trenton (Wesclin). The same foursome won the 4x200 meter relay at 1:32.72.

PCHS's 4x400 meter relay squad - consisting of Fisher, Taylor, Mitchell and Logan - also claimed a Sectional title.

The State Final Meet begins on Thursday, May 28 with preliminaries.
