TRACK & FIELD: PCHS's Keith, Conner qualify for State Finals

Pinckneyville's Sophie Keith and Lexi Conner will both return to the IHSA State Track & Field Finals this week after qualifying at this past Friday's Sectional in Nashville. The Lady Panthers finished the event seventh out of fifteen teams overall. Chester took home first place, Belleville Althoff was second.

Keith dominated the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.38, destroying the competition by over four full seconds. Now a junior, Keith was fifth in the 400m at state a season ago, running 58.63 in the final heat. Keith also won the 200 meter dash at the Nashville Sectional with a time of 26.41.

Conner, a sophomore, will be heading to Charleston in the high jump, where she finished second (4'10) at Nashville despite competing with an ankle injury. She also made the trip to state in the event last season as a freshman.
