Prep T&F: Thrice As Nice
The Harrisburg High School boys' track and field team bested the Ohio Field at last week's Southern Illinois River-to-River Conference meet, claiming the Bulldogs' third straight conference championship with 199 points.
Murphysboro was second with 107 points, while Benton was third with 96 points. Herrin (89), West Frankfort (61) and Massac County (24) rounded out the field.
Dustin Lane and Corbin Crim-Harbinson paced the Bulldogs in the sprints and quality efforts from Kane Carrigan in the field events to win 10 of 18 events.
Lane grabbed the top spot in both the 100 and 200 meter dash, taking the 100 in a speedy time of 11.29.2 and won the 200 with a time of 23.24.
Crim-Harbinson won the 400 meters with a time of 51.80 and was second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.41.3.
Michael Victoria was second in the 800 meters, crossing the line at 2:08.64 and Aiden Blades was third in the 1600 with a time of 5:14.11.
Blades, however, took home the top spot in the 3200 meter run, finishing with a time of 10:52.09.
In the 110 high hurdles, Tylor Marler was second with a time of 15.25, while Cody Rightnowar was third, finishing with a time of 15.90.
Rightnowar got the better of the field in the 300 intermediate hurdles, winning with a time of 41.00 and Marler was third with a time of 43.34.
The 400 meter and 800 meter relay teams each took first place, finishing with times of 44.02 and 1:34.32, respectively.
The 1600 meter relay team was second with a time of 3:36.83, as was the 3200 meter relay team, that had a time of 8:52.35.
Austin Lowry grabbed the top spot in the pole vault, clearing 13-feet-6, while Carrigan took first place in both the shot put and discus with throws of 52-feet-4 and 148-feet-4, respectively in both events.
Brandon Duffield was second in the triple jump, going 38-feet-1.5, while Jared Barger was second in the shot put with a toss of 48-feet-9.
The IHSA Class 2A Sectional will be held Thursday at Troy-Triad
