CHS inducts 25 new members into National Honor Society
<span>CHESTER - The Chester High School Summit Chapter of the National Honor Society held its annual induction ceremony for new members Wednesday, May 13 at the school's Colbert Gymnasium. </span>
<span>The ceremony was held in conjunction with Chester High School's annual Honors Night activities. The NHS induction took first priority, however, as Honors Night is sponsored, coordinated and conducted by the National Honor Society.</span>
<span>The NHS accepted a total of 25 new members which included 12 seniors, four juniors and nine sophomores. Applicants must be at least a sophomore to be considered for membership. </span>
<span>Interested parties must qualify according to numerous standards based upon criteria centering on the applicant's academics/scholarship; service (both at school and in the community); leadership (both at the school level and in community organizations) and personal character.</span>
<span>The 2014-2015 officers are President Mallory Westerman, Vice President Maddie Wofford, Secretary Danny Moeller and Treasurer Noah Franklin. Westerman, Wofford and Moeller are seniors and Franklin is a junior.</span>
<span>The officers conducted the induction ceremony, complete with an explanation of the criteria which were used to determine eligibility, the selection process and obligations which come with the privilege of becoming a member of the Summit Chapter of the CHS National Honor Society.</span>
<span>The officers then swore in the inductees and had all inductees repeat the pledge.</span>
<span>The 2014-2015 induction class included seniors: Liam Canady, son of Jamie Fondaw and Jessie Canady; Paige Davitz, daughter of Jerry and Teri Davitz; Elijah Hasemeyer, son of Chad and Diane Hasemeyer; Tawnie Kozora, daughter of Joseph Kozora and Jennifer Patterson; Sarah Liefer, daughter of Jon and Mary Liefer; and Kennedy McCormick, daughter of Jonathan McCormick and Terri McCormick.</span>
<span>Other senior inductees are: Taylor McDaniel, daughter of Charles and Cindy McDaniel; McKenzi Rucker, daughter of Sheri Coughlin and Dale Rucker and stepdaughter of Kirk Coughlin; Wyatt Ruehling, son of Kathy Miles and Jody Ruehling; Daulton Stahlheber, son of Dave Stahlheber and Shannon Labruyere; Megan Stewart, daughter of Jena Sheeler; and Brooke Straight, daughter of Don and Nancy Straight.</span>
<span>Junior inductees are: Anna Cole, daughter of Tammy Cole and Brian Cole; Katelyn Rader, daughter of Russ and Elizabeth Rader; Tyler Redeker, son of Dallas Redeker and Angela Nordmeyer, and stepson of Christopher Nordmeyer; and Austin Welge, son of Rob and Paige Welge.</span>
<span>Sophomore inductees are: Brianna Bachmann, daughter of Troy and Rose Bachmann; Ellen Blechle, daughter of Chris and Valerie Blechle; Logan Colvis, daughter of Dan and Tracy Colvis; Trent Doiron, son of Derek and Karen Doiron; Steven Ehlers, son of Gregg and Julie Ehlers; Claire Junger, daughter of Tonia and Joseph Junger; Hannah Schweizer, daughter of Shawn and Michelle Schweizer; Emily Tudor, daughter of Tom and Deanna Tudor; and Jack Weir, son of Jim and Mary Jo Weir.</span>
<span>The 25 new inductees joined the 25 other veteran members of the Summit Chapter to bring the total membership to 55.</span>
<span>Veteran seniors are: Mikayla Atchison, Rachel Clendenin, Deanna Hohgrefe, hunter Howie, Madi Kueker, Peyton Lee, Samantha Lingle, Bradley Surman, Chloe Wallace, and Issiac Wingerter.</span>
