SOFTBALL: Hornettes rout DHS 14-0

Nashville's Maci Ingram struck out eleven of the seventeen Lady Indians she faced on Monday and the Hornettes jumped all over Du Quoin 14-0 in five innings, rattling off fifteen hits.

Karly Stanowksi took DHS starter Marisa Ferguson deep for a solo homer in the top of the second inning, and added another RBI during Nashville's five-run third.

Jordi Harre smacked a bases loaded triple in the fifth to deliver the knockout blow for the Hornettes. Harre (2-4, 2 R, 3 RBI, 3B) and Jordan Stiegman (3-4, R, 3 RBI) each drove in three runs for Nashville.

Du Quoin's only hits against Ingram came when Ferguson singled to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning, and when Sydney Lewis doubled with one out in the fifth. Neither runner advanced.

"Just one of those games that nothing went right," said DHS head coach Jason James. "Tomorrow is a different day and hopefully we show up ready to go."

The Lady Indians (12-12, 3-5) are at Pinckneyville (15-6, 4-3) on Tuesday and back home on Wednesday to host Herrin.
