OBITUARY: Lorene Lucille “Sis” Hancock

Lorene Lucille "Sis" Hancock, 87 of Harrisburg, passed away at 12:16 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

Lorene was born on Sept. 8, 1927, in Harrisburg to the late Bert Alexander and Etta Beulah (Duncan) Reynolds. On June 24, 1945, she married John Melvin Hancock and he survives. She was a member of the Spring Valley Social Brethren Church and the Carrier Mills Senior Citizens Club.

Surviving family members include her husband, John Hancock of Harrisburg; son, Roger Dale Hancock of Russellville, Ala.; son, John David (Rondi) Hancock of Griffith, Ind.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Reynolds of Louisville, Ky.; and a sister-in-law, Ovalea Reynolds of Harrisburg.

Lorene was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bertis Reynolds and Harold Reynolds; sister, Beulah Martin; and daughter-in-law, Brenda Hancock.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2015, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Jerry Wells will officiate. Burial will follow in Spring Valley Cemetery south of Harrisburg. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Reed Funeral Chapel.
