Prep Track & Field: Climbing For The Top

Bryleigh Buchanan tied a school record over the weekend, clearing 5-feet-4 in the high jump Friday at the Marion Invitational.

Buchanan took first place in the event, helping Harrisburg to a fifth place finish.

Harrisburg had a handful of fourth place finishes as Franchesca Laurencio took fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:37. Tiffanie Milligan placed fourth in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:17, while Ashley Cain ran a time of 6:39 in the 1600 meter run.

Buchanan capped off her day with a fourth place finish in the 200 meter dash, running a time of 27.1. Devan Jones rounded out the fourth place finishes, throwing 35-feet-7 in the shot put.

The 3200 meter relay team finished third with a time of 4:42, while the 3200 meter relay team was fifth, crossing the line at 11:33.

In the field events, Morgan Denbo had a toss of 78-feet-3 in the discus, while Arianna Boma went 57-feet.

Brantlea Jones had a jump of 4-feet-6 in the high jump and Reagan Thompson went 13-feet in the long jump.

On Monday, Buchanan was back to her ways, taking first place in the high jump at Herrin as she went 5-feet-1/4. Jones was fifth in the same event, clearing 4-6.

Buchanan went 15-feet-1 3/4 in the long jump and placed fifth in the 200 run with a time of 27.18.

Thompson went 13-feet in the long jump, while Denbo threw 76-feet-1 in the discus and Boma landed in at 56-7.

In the shot put, Jones had a heave of 34-feet-10 and Finely went 28-feet-3.

The 1600 meter relay team finished fifth with a time of 4:37, while the 800 meter relay team had a time of 2:38. The 3200 meter relay team had a time of 11:34 to finish in third place.

Taya Claypool and Stephanie Chambers had times of 16.9 and 17.6, respectively in the 100 meter dash, while Rann ran the 800 in a time of 3:02.

In the 1600 meter run, Laurencio had a time of 6:50, while Milligan finished in a time of 7:30.
