SOFTBALL: Dunmyer drives in five for victorious Elverado

Elverado broke open Friday's game early with a seven-run second inning and cruised to an 11-1, five-inning short-game win over visiting Joppa for their third conference win of the spring.

Britani Prescott (3-3, 2 R, 2 RBI), Baylie McClanahan (2-3, 2 R, RBI, 2B, 3B), Paige Newfarmer (2-3, 2 R, 2 RBI, 3B) and Katie Dunmyer (2-2, R, 5 RBI, 3B, HBP) all had multi-hit games and Brooke Whittington allowed just three hits and struck out nine for EHS.

"We had some great hits tonight," said Lady Falcons head coach Donette Wheatley. "Britani, Paige and Baylie all had some great hits. Kadie Dunmyer hit the ball well with runners in scoring position and had five RBIs. Brooke pitched another great game. We're playing some good ball right now."

The first five Elverado hitters reached base in the bottom of the second inning including a three-run triple by Dunmyer. McClanahan (triple), Newfarmer (single) and Prescott (single) all later added two-out RBIs to put the Lady Falcons up 7-0.

Elverado put the game away with four more runs in the bottom of the fourth.

EHS (4-6) is at home against Cobden on Monday before traveling to Shawnee on Tuesday.
