Du Quoin police make arrest in 'shots fired' case
Chief of Police Jamie Ellermeyer said an arrest has been made in a "shots fired" case in one of Du Quoin's northeast neighborhoods.
On Monday, April 13 at 2:32 a.m. the Du Quoin Police Department received a 911 call of shots fired in the 500 block of North Winters Street in Du Quoin. Sgt. Lee Prince and officer Scott Beasley arrived at the 536 North Winters Street home of Robert Lee White, age 46.
A 12 gauge sawed off shotgun along with five rounds and spent rounds were recovered from the scene. Perry County deputy Jeremy Gothard and Sgt. Harsy assisted with the incident.
White was transported to the Du Quoin Police Department where detectives Ingram and Schimanski interviewed White. White was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and was taken to the Perry County Jail.
He was subsequently charged with unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a firearm with no Firearms Owner Identification Card.
