OBITUARY: James S. Harris
James S. Harris, 83 of Galatia, passed away 5:52 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015, at his residence.
He was born on Dec. 18, 1931, in Saline County to the Late Ernest and Clova (Williams) Harris. Jim married Jean (Lawrence) Harris on June 2, 1949, in Morganfield Ky., having 66 years of marriage. He was a farmer and was the chief electrician for the coal mines working at several coal mines before retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Galatia.
Jim is survived by two sons, Jimmy (Barbara) Harris and Dan (Patty) Harris; six grandchildren, Chris Harris, Brion Harris, Greg Harris, Aaron Harris, Travis Lannom and Kate Harris; eight great-grandchildren, Addi, Jay, Scarlett, Graham, Lily, Kolton, Abbie and Whitlee; one brother, Gene (Leona) Harris.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and seven brothers and sisters, Juanita Duffee, Venita Hall, Ruby Constanders, Burtis Harris, Edward Harris, Leon Harris and Charles Harris.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday April 22, 2015, at the Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with visitation 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday April 21, 2015, at the funeral home. The Rev. Kevin Peyton will officiate with burial the Lebanon Cemetery.
