OBITUARY: Iola Bonita “Bonnie” Gobin
Iola Bonita "Bonnie" Gobin, 87 of Marion, formerly of Raleigh, passed with her family by her side, Saturday, April 18, 2015, in Marion.
Bonnie was born in Harrisburg on Sept. 14, 1927, to the late Hubert and Essie Iola (Modglin) Prather. She was a homemaker and a graduate of ETHS class of 1946. She attended the Apostolic Church of Wasson until moving to Murphysboro and started attending the New Life Tabernacle. She was faithful in serving God and her churches for 62 years.
On May 17, 1948, she married Oscar Vernon "Buck" Gobin and he preceded her in death on Dec. 2, 1995. Surviving are her children: two sons, Vernon (Tammy) Gobin of Eldorado, Ron (Juanetta) Gobin of Murphysboro; and a daughter, Cheryl Gobin Winters. She has seven grandchildren: Whitney Winters, Sheree (Bill) Ball, Brent Gobin, Tana Gobin, Misty (Jeff) Morris, Mandy Gobin Mills and Chris (Tess) Gobin; seven great-grandchildren: Jordyn Winters Bramlet, Dakota Ball, Kylee Ball, Hunter Morris, Addison Morris, Kirsten Gobin and Brandon Gobin. She is also survived by three brothers: Bill (Marilyn) Prather of Raleigh, Willard (Bonnie) Prather of Raleigh and Lindell "Butch" (Margaret) Prather of Harrisburg; and two sisters: Juanita Stevens of Raleigh and Oneda (Jr.) Furlong of Harrisburg. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers: Jim Prather, Tom Prather, John Prather and Lowell "Cub" Prather; and one sister: Toleda Gobin.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Watson Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Worthen and the Rev. Nathen Prather officiating. Burial will be in Raleigh Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at the Watson Funeral Home.
