19-year-old Du Quoin man one of three killed Friday in wreck near Sesser
A head on crash on Illinois Route 148 just north of Sesser in Franklin County has claimed three lives and injured another person.
Franklin County officials say the drivers of both vehicles were killed. Franklin County Coroner Mary Leffler identified the victims as 19-year-old TJay Klamm of DuQuoin and 75-year-old Richard Kiselewski of Waltonville.
The third victim was one of Kiselewski's twin granddaughters he was taking to get ice cream. Sierra Hess of Scheller was also pronounced dead at the scene. The other six-year-old was air lifted to a St.Louis Hospital for treatment.
Franklin County Sheriff's Deputies have not released details on how the crash occurred.
In a second weekend, non-fatal accident Illinois State Police are investigating a pair of school buses that ended up in the median on I-57 near Johnston City Friday evening.
There were no students on board. It appears one empty bus was towing another. Witnesses say something caused at least one bus to roll over.
The accident and the investigation caused a large backup on I-57 in both directions. At one point State Police had closed one southbound lane.
