OBITUARY: William H. "Bill" Harrawood

William H. "Bill" Harrawood, 79 of Boonville, Ind., passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at his home.

He was born Oct. 24, 1935, in Canada, Ky., to the late Floyd and Marjorie (Jordan) Harrawood. In 1953, Bill graduated from Columbia Military Academy in Columbia, Tenn. He obtained his bachelor's degree in 1959 from the University of Evansville where he also played football. He was a teacher and coach with the Warrick County School Corp retiring after 32 years of service. Bill served on the U of E Alumni board of directors. He was inducted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame, University of Evansville's Athletic Hall of Fame and the Boonville High School Hall of Fame. He was a member and past president of the Indiana Football Coaches Association, member and president of SAE Fraternity and attended First Christian Church of Newburgh.

He is survived by his son, Charles David Harrawood of Evansville, Ind.; daughters, Amy McLurkin (John) of Newburgh, Ind., and Tricia Slagle (Bob Toelle) of Mt. Vernon, Ind.; grandchildren, Maggie and Sam McLurkin and Mitchell Slagle; sisters, Ren Hester and Winnie Craig; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville, Ind. 47714 and will continue from 10 a.m. 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2015, at the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Brunson and the Rev. Kathleen Fox officiating.

Entombment will be at Memorial Park Mausoleum.
