Prep Baseball Roundup: Eldorado, Gallatin Co. fall on diamond over weeekend
The Eldorado High School baseball team finally got some cooperation from Mother Nature over the weekend, although the results weren't what the Eagles were hoping for.
Eldorado dropped four games, moving to 2-5 on the season as they lost a twin-bill to Black Diamond Conference rival Hamilton County 8-7 and 13-3 and followed that up with a pair of losses to Cobden, falling 13-3 and Goreville 5-1.
In the 8-7 loss to Hamilton County, the Eagles had eight hits as their rally came up short.
Stanton Hathaway led Eldorado at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and a run scored, while Adam Collier finished 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
Drew Woolcott, Josh Pilkington and Bryson Sigler all had one hit, while Woolcott and Sigler scored a pair of runs and Pilkington scored one run.
Hamilton County scored two runs in third and a run in the top of the fourth to take a 3-0 lead, but the Eagles rallied for a three-run fourth to tie the game.
The Foxes put up five runs in the sixth, while Eldorado's four runs in the bottom of the sixth, compliments of a Hathaway grand slam fell short of the rally.
Adam Collier got the start and worked six innings, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on 12 hits, while striking out six and walking two.
Woolcott came on in relief, working one inning, striking out one.
In the 13-3 loss to the Foxes, a two-out throwing error by the Eagles led to eight unearned runs as Eldorado trailed 10-1 before falling.
Collier, Pilkington and Dalton all had a hit, while Richard Graceffa and Max Kaiser each drove in a run.
Hathaway took the loss on the mound, going 4 innings, allowing 13 runs (10 earned) on 13 hits with three strikeouts and three walks.
In the 13-3 Cobden loss, the Appleknockers capitalized on a seven-run fourth inning to win by 10 in five innings.
Woolcott had the only multi-hit game for the Eagles, going 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI. Sigler had one hit and knocked in a run.
Kaiser took the loss on the bump, allowing 13 runs (eight earned) on four hits, while walking 15 and striking out eight.
In the 5-1 loss to Goreville, Graceffa allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits, while walking six.
Hathaway, Graceffa and Trey Vessel all had a hit, while Graceffa drove in the lone run, scoring Vessel in the second inning.
Gallatin County drops a pair over weekend
The Gallatin County High School baseball team fell to Webber Township 13-0 and lost to Marissa 13-2 over the weekend.
In the loss to Webber Township, Nathan Shults, Kory Hise, Patrick Clark and Thomas York all had one hit.
Hunter Walters took the loss on the bump, going five innings and allowing four earned runs, while Shults tossed two innings while giving up four earned runs.
In the loss to Marissa, Clark paced the Hawks at the plate, going 3-for-3, while York went 2-for-3. Steven Robinson, Hise and Walters all had one hit.
Hise gave up six earned runs over two innings to take the loss for the Hawks, while Clark went three innings, allowing three earned runs.
