OBITUARY: Geraldine J. “Jerri” Carr Davis

Geraldine J. "Jerri" Carr Davis, 80 of Charleston, passed away at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, in the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center of Coles County.

She was born June 3, 1934, in Texas City, the daughter of Leonard and Anna (Maloney) Carr.

Mrs. Davis was a retired field rep/area supervisor for the Green Thumb/Experience Works program and a homemaker. She earned a bachelor of arts degree from University of Illinois at Springfield while working with the Green Thumb program and received an achievement award for excellence in 1990/91. She was a member of the Old State Road Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Charleston. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, classical and swing music, fine art, traveling, birdwatching, was an avid reader and St Louis Cardinals fan.

"Jerri" leaves two sons, Robin Davis of Harrisburg and Mark Davis and wife Renee of Carbondale; one sister, Christine Pfeiffer of Waukegan; four grandchildren, Robyn Lynn Trueblood, Joseph, Robert and Cameron Davis; three great-grandchildren, Caleb, Ethan and Anna Trueblood.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Charles and Ronald Carr; and one sister, Velma Jean Austin.

Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015, with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. at The Presbyterian Church of Harrisburg with Pastor Elizabeth Moses officiating. Jerri's monument will be erected next to her family at the Poplar Creek Cemetery in Texas City. Memorials may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation.
