Prep Baseball: Bulldogs, Hawks notch wins on diamond
Carson Batts picked up his second win of the season as the Harrisburg baseball team knocked off Seneca 6-2 Tuesday morning at Doris Heights.
Batts (2-0) worked four strong innings, allowing five hits and one earned run, while striking out two.
Dalton Lambert came on in relief for two innings, allowing one hit and one run (unearned), while striking out three and Cooper Patterson tossed one inning for the Bulldogs.
At the plate, Sykes Thompson hit a home run, going 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Bryce Emery was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI for Harrisburg, who improved to 4-3 on the season.
Matthew Phipps, Noah Vallette and Batts all had one hit on the day.
Harrisburg is scheduled to play Pleasant Plains at 11 a.m. on Thursday, followed by a game with Johnston City at 4:30, both at Doris Heights and are scheduled to host Carterville on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Gallatin County 18, Pope County 6
The Gallatin County baseball team picked up a 18-6 win over Pope County Tuesday.
Kory Hise got the win on the bump, going two innings, striking out two and allowing two earned runs, while Patrick Clark went three innings, striking out three and allowing one earned run.
Hise finished 2-for-3 at the plate with five RBI and two runs scored. Hise hit a double off the center field fence with the bases loaded in the second inning as the Hawks up put a four spot against the Pirates.
Seth Ramsey paced the Gallatin County offense at the plate, going 3-for-3 with four runs scored and drove in a pair of runs, while Thomas York, Steven Robinson, Dustin Oldham, Nathan Shults and Clark each recorded multiple hit days.
Hunter Walters and Clay Pritchard each had a hit for the Hawks.
