OBITUARY: Carl A. Barnard
Carl A. Barnard, 73 of Harrisburg, passed away at his home at 3 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2015.
Carl was also known as Crackerjack by his C.B. friends. He was born on Aug. 21, 1941, in Steele, Mo., to Willard A. Barnard and Emma Mae Tims. He married Barbara Swofford on Nov. 4, 1960, at Caruthersville, Mo., at the Church of the Nazerene. They had 54 years together.
Carl is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Barnard of Harrisburg; three children, Carl Jr. (Caroline) Barnard of St. Charles, Greg Barnard of Harrisburg and Jacqueline Barnard, also of Harrisburg; five grandchildren, Luke (Kati) Barnard of Carrier Mills, Nicole Kelly of the Chicago area, Miranda Talpado also of the Chicago area, Michael Ignowski of Bloomington; and two great-grandchildren. He was the second oldest of 11 children of which six are deceased leaving the following: Mary Ann Barnard of Steele, Mo., Marilyn (Richard) Self of Crete, J.B. (Carolyn) Barnard of Steele, Mo., and Patricia Schubart of Steele, Mo. Also, he is leaving behind a very special sister-in-law, Connie (Alex) Salanco of Clearwater, Fla.; brother and sister in his "heart," James and Roberta Finny of Manchester, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
In 1991, Carl retired from the Ford Stamping Plant of Chicago Heights after 30 years of service. He loved to fish, hunt and work in the yard, planting beautiful things. Also he loved to spend time with his friends and family. He will be missed by everyone.
Visitation for Carl will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at the Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado. Funeral service at the funeral home is 1 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2015, with Pastor Gary Clark officiating. Burial will be at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Harrisburg. Memorials may be made to the Oasis Community Church of the Nazerene or to the American Heart Association.
