Prep Baseball Roundup: Eldorado, Carrier Mills-Stonefort, Gallatin County all pick up wins
The Carrier Mills-Stonefort baseball team improved to 2-1 with a 10-0 win over Galatia Tuesday afternoon.
Carrier Mills senior right hander Darren Betz got the win on the mound, striking out 14 Bearcats and pulled double duty, cranking out his second home run of the season and finished 1-for-2 at the plate with four RBI.
Loren Whiting went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI, while Ethan Davis finished 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Sean Mondino led the Bearcats (0-1) by going 1-for-2 at the plate.
Gallatin County 10, Norris City-Omaha-Enfield 0
JUNCTION - Kory Hise went the distance for Gallatin County, striking out seven in the shut out win for the Hawks, who bounced back after an 8-7 loss to Carmi-White County on Monday.
Seth Ramsey led Gallatin County at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three RBI, three runs scored and stole five bases on the afternoon.
Thomas York went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a pair of runs scored, while Steven Robinson, Lucas Hise, Hunter Walters and Patrick Clark all notched a hit on the day.
Clark drove in two runs, while Nathan Shults, Robinson and Hise all drove in one.
Clay Pritchard scored a pair of runs, while Robinson, Hise and Walters all scored one run.
"I was proud of our teams effort tonight," Gallatin County head coach Mark Hiller said. "We did a good job of limiting our mistakes in the field and we did a nice job of cashing in on our opportunities with guys on base."
Eldorado 8, Pope County 4
ELDORADO - Richard Graceffa went 2-for-3 at the plate, including driving in a pair of runs as Eldorado knocked off Pope County 8-4 Monday.
Adam Collier also went 2-for-3, scored a pair of runs and drove in a run for the Eagles.
Christian Dalton, Jaden Sigler and Kale Oglesby all had a hit, while Max Kaiser and Josh Pilkington each drove in a run.
Trey Vessel, Sigler, Pilkington, Oglesby, Dalton and Graceffa each scored a run.
Oglesby got the start, going 1.2 innings, striking out two and walking three, while allowing two earned runs on two hits.
Kaiser finished going 5.1 innings, striking out six and walking four, while allowing two earned runs on two hits.
