Chester man injured in motorcycle crash
<span>CHESTER -- A Sunday morning motorcycle accident left a Chester man seriously injured.</span>
<span>In a news release, the Chester Police Department said officers were dispatched to a traffic accident at 11:50 a.m. on Route 150 (State Street) at Murphysboro Road.</span>
<span>According to police, 22-year-old Randy L. Beam, of Chester, was traveling east on State Street when he lost control of his 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle.</span>
<span>Both the motorcycle and Beam slid into a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by 45-year-old Richard D. Fondow of Ellis Grove, that was in the westbound lane.</span>
<span>A preliminary police investigation showed Fondow had just pulled out of the Grace Church parking lot into the westbound lane and was able to stop his truck prior to the motorcycle and Beam making contact with his vehicle.</span>
<span>Beam sustained a number of injuries and was transported to Chester Memorial via MedStar Ambulance. He was later transferred to a St. Louis-area hospital.</span>
<span>Police are still investigating the contributing factors to the accident.</span>
